SUMMARY:Knowledge gives you wings
DESCRIPTION:A collaboration with Earth Helpers and Plasticvalla at DCAW 2024 \nDesee Art curated the dynamic mixed media art installation “Knowledge Gives You Wings”\, created by Manveer aka Plasticvalla at the 7th edition of Delhi Contemporary Art Week\, 2024.\nThe work\, created with significant amounts of upcycled MLP plastic\, makes a tangible environmental contribution and highlights the role of education in nurturing open\, curious minds committed to sustainability. \n         \nThe centerpiece of the installation\, a book\, the foundation of knowledge\, is made from upcycled MLP plastic. Above it\, birds that are also crafted from the plastic wrapper waste\, soar.\nReflective surfaces on the book allow viewers to see new perspectives of the artwork and their surroundings\, encouraging exploration and interaction. The work conveys sustainability education in its material component and aesthetics.\nAs a part of the work\, an upcycled loudspeaker amplifies the message\, delivering a universal call for climate mindfulness and sustainability. \nSpecial thanks to Earth Helpers\, a community started in 2021 by Yuvaan Monga\, a six years old and now joined by his friend Shivansh Singhania in 2023. These young environmental champions\, both 5th graders at The Shri Ram School\, Vasant Vihar\, are dedicated to environmental protection through education\, waste management\, and empowering communities to care for our planet.

DESCRIPTION:Desee Art organized the webinar ‘ Creative Solutions Towards Sustainability’ on 22nd May 2022 with panelists Lina Vincent (curator and art historian )\, Plasticvalla (artist working for sustainability)\, Saurabh Pandey (sustainability expert\, CMO of Better India) and Pulkit Somani (Founder of Desee art) as a moderator. In this in-depth discussion\, various aspects of visual arts and other mediums are thoroughly observed which can help build a sustainable future and provide artistic solutions to ecological crises. The panelists examined how the arts can help the world to be a better place and collated many important practices of art and life which can bring about a positive change in society and the environment.

SUMMARY:‘Snow Leopard’\, Collaboration between Plasticvalla and Ilahi Travels\, March 2022
DESCRIPTION:In March 2022\, on behalf of Desee Art\, the artist Plasticvalla did a collaborative project with Ilahi Travels\, where the artist involved locals and other travelers in gathering plastic waste all around Spiti valley and provided an artistic solution by creating a plastic sculpture of a snow leopard. \nThe trash around the valley is hard-to-recycle plastic that contributes to the Global Warming Emergency and causes snow to melt. The work poses the question – If there is no snow\, where will the Snow Leopard go? \nThis installation is an urge to the citizens and tourists of Spiti to abide by the basic rules of collecting your trash\, reusing\, recycling\, and reducing it. We hope this activity will inspire many more to be part of this needful change and it still stands in the Spiti valley as a token of encouragement to be more concerned towards mother nature.
