Satish Sharma

Satish Sharma was born in Uttarakhand and now lives and works in New Delhi. His practice and the way he thickly layers his paint is not only reminiscent of Vincent Van Gogh, it is his personal signature developed over the years of his artistic practice.

His artworks are abstract and often monochromatic, they simulate the elements of the earth: the earthiness of the ground, the waves of the ocean, the different shades of the night; With the help of techniques such as impasto and using found objects to create the textures present in his works.

Biography

Satish Sharma was born in Uttarakhand and now lives and works in New Delhi. His practice and the way he thickly layers his paint is his personal signature developed over the years of his artistic practice.
He studied engineering and even worked for 20 years in an advertising firm, but there is no doubt Sharma’s heart is with visual art. His path towards becoming an artist was guided by acclaimed artist Rameshwar Broota, where Sharma is now a teacher himself at the Triveni Kala Sangam as a part of their fellowship program since 2012.

His artworks are abstract and often monochromatic, they simulate the elements of the earth: the earthiness of the ground, the waves of the ocean, the different shades of the night; With the help of techniques such as impasto and using found objects to create the textures present in his works. He recently has begun working with his hands adding more automatic, less controlled gestures to his work, making his pure abstraction process a more subconscious and natural one.
