Description
In the ‘My Journey’ series created by the artist in his early career, he used the symbolic representation of the buffalo, and the bridges on the hump of the buffalos in this diptych series are cultivated from the memory and inspirations regarding Ram Jhula and Laxman Jhula at Haridwar, the artist’s birthplace. Working with the sacred imagery of the buffalo, an intrinsic element of farming and rural life, the artist bends the visual in a surreal manner, creating the matrix of color at the humps of the buffalos. The works exude a sense of skillful realism through the portrayal of the animals and the bridges, engulfing it in surreal storytelling.
