Ritu Kamath

Ritu Kamath, a visual artist who was born in 1970, uses a variety of techniques in her creations. Ritu began creating work in 1986 at the Triveni Kala Sangam Studios in Delhi, where she was taught by Shobha and Rameshwar Broota.

 A multidisciplinary artist, Ritu’s art touches the metaphysical of the eternal, and universal. The Noida-based artist has been creating work that pays an ode to mother nature in many of her recent works and has been looking at how the error of mankind has led to the degradation and endangerment of nature. Her works are precise, and intricate, reflecting a skilled hand and she uses various techniques like stippling, creating canvas boxes, and so on.

Biography

Ritu Kamath, a visual artist who was born in 1970, uses a variety of techniques in her creations. Ritu began creating work in 1986 at the Triveni Kala Sangam Studios in Delhi, where she was taught by Shobha and Rameshwar Broota. She received her BFA in Painting and Sculpture from the prestigious Jamia Millia Islamia University in 1992 and she earned her Master of Fine Arts from IDE, Gwalior. Since 2014, Ritu has been a guest professor at Amity University. In her career as an artist, she has experimented with a variety of vocations and forms. Whether she is investigating the feminine form or probing satires, her main goal has always been to produce beautiful things that have meaning. By reinterpreting the different thoughts that go through her mind every day, she translates her desires into the painting. Her mind is continually titillated by a collection of triggers, tasks, thoughts, dreams, symbols, and interpretations. She has relied on sketching with inks and acrylics on paper and canvas to interpret or convey her thoughts. Her artwork is intricate and has several layers. Ritu has participated in approximately 80 group concerts and nine solo shows during her two-and-a-half-decade career. Participation at IAF (2020) with the gallery Engendered Space is one of the notable exhibitions worth mentioning ( Booth sponsored by the Italian Embassy). To mention a few other shows, the group exhibition "Next" at White Walls The Art Gallery in Kochi, Kerala, features 8 female artists (2017). The Seeker and the Sought, a collective exhibition held in November 2016 at Art Centrix Space in New Delhi, and so on.
To mention a few of her important solo shows are- I-seek, (tales from studio 727), a solo exhibition curated by Anoop Kamath with a catalog essay by Georgina Maddox, which was shown at the Lalit Kala Akademi in New Delhi in 2018. Under the patronage of renowned author and actor Girish Karnad, a solo exhibition of Ritu titled "Bhanwar" debuted in 2002 at the Nehru Centre of the Indian High Commission in London. Ritu has received repeated invitations to serve as a jury, judge, and external examiner at Amity University, Ansal University, and many other prestigious Delhi schools.
