Vandana

Vandana is a feminist, powerful, and eloquent Indian artist. It’s interesting to note that the young artist removed her last name as an artistic protest against caste and social background prejudice. Vandana is originally from the tiny Haryana village of Bhiwani, but she presently resides in Gurugram.

She is skilled in sculpting, photography, mixed media, and her zone of interest “Performance art.”

 She has exhibited her work in India (Including New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata), the United Kingdom (including London), Switzerland, South Korea, Thailand (Bangkok Art Biennale 2018) and Italy (Venice).

Biography

Vandana is a feminist, powerful, and eloquent Indian artist. It's interesting to note that the young artist removed her last name as an artistic protest against caste and social background prejudice. Vandana is originally from the tiny Haryana village of Bhiwani, but she presently resides in Gurgaon/Gurugram. Her need for education and curiosity drove her to Mumbai, where she completed her Fine Arts diploma and made the decision to study English, Hindi, and Sanskrit as well. She is skilled in sculpting, photography, mixed media, and her zone of interest "Performance art."

The artist received a fully sponsored, three-month Artist Residency in 2013 in Switzerland, where she discovered that she is a performance artist and did her very first Official Live Public Performance in this same museum (Kunst Zeug Haus)at the opening of her solo show organized by Stiftung(Foundation), Futur, Switzerland. She has exhibited her work in India (Including New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata), United Kingdom (including London), Switzerland, South Korea, Thailand (Bangkok Art Biennale 2018) and Italy (Venice). She received the Kingston GOLD Award from Kingston University, London, 2018. She had been invited to participate in the group exhibition 'Family Matter (FAMILIENSACHE)' directed by CĂ©line Gaillard and Simone Kobler at the Museum Kunst Zeug Haus, Switzerland, from 21st Aug to 23rd Oct 2022.
