Description
This is a sculptural installation portraying a slice of the core of Earth from the future. The artwork addresses the global crisis of plastic pollution.By doing ‘Segregation at Source’, about 6 kgs of discarded plastic have been transmuted into a poignant representation of Earth’s core, layered with the very material that plagues our environment.
Owing to our negligent discarding of plastics, our future generations will most probably inherit an Earth inundated with layers of plastic waste at its core, as shown here. The heavily populated plastic layers do not permit rainwater to flow under them and cause drought due to groundwater depletion. The work is a mirror, reflecting our duty to heal the planet and asking us to be mindful of our impact on the environment. Â
