Description
Kali, the major Hindu goddess, is associated with time, creation, change, power, and destruction. In this work through depicting the almighty goddess Kali- the goddess of transformation and destruction, the artist intermingled her innovative form and technique with the concept and drive behind the visual. The depiction of the goddess exudes her fierce, strong femininity and also the compassionate side of the mother. The vibrant red, blue, and yellow complement the radiating energy of Devi that speaks through this playful composition of recycled fabrics attached to the work.Â
The materials of the work are sourced and segregated in various criteria of color, shapes, nature of textile, and conceptual intention. The intrinsic color palette illustrates various ranges of textiles sourced from the local shops of New Delhi. The essence of kali lies in the destruction of darkness and in transformative strength, love, and power to the journey towards the light; the artist served a treatment of resurrection to these materials as well, where the discarded, leftover fabrics get a new life through this recycled artwork, beautifully capturing the spirit of the goddess, reflecting the Kali which resides inside our heart. Â
