Description

This tactile work created out of an enormous amount of plastic waste is a testament to our reality. The artwork conceptually depicts the infamous Ghazipur landfill, a man-made mountain of garbage. By portraying a sunrise over this hill of waste accumulated from the city, the artist highlights the environmental plight of the capital city of India. The high-up landfill is 70 acres spread and it was said that the garbage hill will rise higher than the Taj Mahal at a certain time soon. While the artist generally uses plastic waste to depict the changing landscape, endangered species, and urban ecosystems, here he has shifted gears and used the waste to literally depict this site-specific hill of waste, a reality true to many other areas and cities in the world.
