Description
This monochromatic drawing of the fish with hundreds of its fishlings depicts a metaphor for a consciously protected family, a scenario where the head of the family or the leader protects the crew. Stemming from the artist’s own experience during the Bihar floods, the work depicts a familial bond and portrays the power of love and care. The image is a reflection of a real scenario witnessed by the artist during the flood, where a big fish in plight was saving hundreds of its fishlings, the artist embodies the scene with a notion of metaphor that much like the fish, the support and protection provided by an elder or the guardian in the family, for the rest of the family is crucial in the needful hour. The work is also a homage to the predecessors, and the family leaders, and the all-loving mothers- who once kept on protecting their dear family and passed the baton to the current generation.Â
